Did you know I’ve written a few cookbooks? And I am working on the next one right now!
Click on the book covers below to see my vegan cookbooks on Amazon. You can look in the book right from the comfort of your own home from their Amazon listings. Nice, right?
The best way to do this is to make sure you are viewing the paperback, because you get to see more in the paperback preview. Then click the book cover on the Amazon page, it should say look in the book above it.
Included in look in the book is the full table of contents, a few full recipes and some photos. You should be able to tell which book is the right one for you from there.

I hope you don’t mind a cookbook topic suggestion. There are so many vegans in Asia, why not write an Asian-vegan cookbook? As far as I’m concerned Asian dishes are the best in the world, with Indian topping the list. If you write it, I will buy it!
Kathy Hester says
I never mind suggestions! I’ll put it on my books to write list.
There are some good easy Asian recipes in my newest book, The Easy Vegan Cookbook.

I have enjoyed your cookbooks as they offer vegan food with oil free options. If you ever decided to write an Okara cookbook I would be one of the first customers for that!

I’m glad you’ve found my cookbooks helpful! I will put that one on my future book list 😉

Is this available in any digital edition? I couldn’t find it on amazon. Thanks

You can find all the digital editions on Amazon here:

I hope my question doesn’t show my ignorance, but have you written a cookbook about using pressure cooker? I’m talking about one that’s used on the stove, not plugged in. I recently purchased a Fagor 6 QT. pressure cooker. I was really disappointed it didn’t come with a cookbook. It came with a dvd, but that featured pretty much all SAD recipes. I THOUGHT OF YOU! Any chance you have created a work of magic that will make me look like I know what I’m doing?!
Thank you,
Marcia

I saw in one of your blogs you’re working on an instantpot cookbook. Is this going to be a hard copy book or an ebook? When do you think this is going to be available? I’m waiting!!!
Kathy Hester says
It should be out Jan 2017 and it is coming out from Page St. Publishing. It will be available in paperback and ebook!

After having tried few of your recipes from the website (these being a delicious success) I’ve just bought The Healthy Slow Cooker cookbook as I want to make the most of my Instant Pot by also using the Slow Cooker mode.
Having said that, in this case I was wondering if the “Cheesy Broccoli Rice” recipe from the mentioned book can be adapted for High Pressure Cooking? If so, could you tell me how please?
Many thanks!

I’ve tried the recipe in the ‘slow cook’ mode of my instant pot today… Total and utter disaster… :'(
I halved all the quantities of the ingredients, as it’s only me, my partner and my toddler.
I followed all the instructions accurately.
When 1h 30min was up, I opened the lid and there was no liquid left! it had already been soaked up, the rice was nearly cooked. So, what did I do? I added a little more water along with the broccoli florets, hoping for the best… I set the time for 30min more… Didn’t work:broccoli wasn’t cooked… 15min more…broccoli would still not cook and rice was overdone… In the end I took the florets out and chuck them in the steamer. Served the overcooked rice with the steamed broccoli on top.
So disappointed… What do you think were the problems here? What can I do for the next time?
Many thanks for your help. I’m a ‘newbe’ with instant pot and slow cooking…
Kindest regards.

Can you tell me which recipe you were trying? I’d be happy to help you troubleshoot.

Hello Kathy,
My 2 posts were about the “Cheesy Broccoli Rice” recipe from your book.
Thanks
Kathy Hester says
I haven’t made it in the pressure cooker yet. I would probably cook the rice first, then add in the rest and cook a minute or 2 more.

Hi
I am very happy to see your coookbook, Vegan Slow Cooking for Two…. It might be just what I’ve been searching for. Can the recipes be cooked successfully in an Instant Pot 3 Quart Mini Duo using the slow cook function?
Thanks for your help.
Kathy Hester says
I’m not sure if they will all work as is. The IP didn’t exist when I had my testers trying them out. I think all the soups and stews should work on slow cooker, but some recipe you might have to double the recipe if it’s not full enough.
Is there a particular recipe you’re looking at?

Just bought Ultimate Vegan Cookbook …. (It looks good.)
Two of your books are already indexed at www.vegbookindex.com
If you want to have the rest of your books added to the index
please send me machine-readable copies of the table of contents.
The point of the index is twofold:
1. Help people find a cookbook to buy
2. Find a recipe once they buy the book.

Greetings! I have 3 of your books and love them all: Easy Vegan Cookbook, Ultimate Vegan Instant Pot & The Great Vegan Bean Book. Would like to purchase The Vegan Slow Cooker (2011) and Vegan Slow Cooking for Two (2013) but cannot find them for sale. Are they available in softback or digital format? Wondering how to convert slow cooker recipes to Instant Pot. Is there a general guideline? Also, since I cannot use nutritional yeast because of allergies (also no soy) what would you recommend as a good substitute for taste and volume? Thank you!!
Kathy Hester says
All my books are available as ebooks on Amazon and I would get the updated version of The Vegan Slow Cooker – it’s nicer.
Nooch is used to add flavor and umami, you could try some mushroom or tomato powder to taste, but start with very small amounts so you don’t over power the recipe.

Hi Kathy! Is there a way to buy a signed print copy of one of your slow cooking books? Vegan Slow Cooking for Two? I tried the ebook version and I think I could use the print 🙂
