Ready for a delicious recipe for a plant-based cantaloupe ice cream and using my new favorite appliance, the Ninja Creami? It’s so good!
Chef AJ often calls me a kitchen wizard, and today, I’m about to perform some tasty magic with the Ninja Creami, whipping up a refreshing cantaloupe ice cream with fresh canteloupe, non-dairy milk, and your choice of sweetener!

The versatility of the Ninja Creami allows you to be creative with flavors. I switch between plant-based milk depending on my mood or what I have in the fridge. You can use store-bought or homemade – even creamers if you want to.
In the case of this cantaloupe ice cream, I encourage you to taste the mix before freezing it. Since the sweetness of your cantaloupe may vary, adjusting the level of sweetness to your preference is crucial.

Welcome to the World of Ninja Creami
Let me introduce you to the new model of the Ninja Creami, known as the Ninja Breeze. Despite differences between the models, you can make all the same delicious treats in both machines – creamiccinos, slushies, mocktails, cocktails, and of course, various flavors of ice cream.
With this recipe and your Ninja Creami machine, you can enjoy a delightful, refreshing treat that’s perfect for the summer heat. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also vegan-friendly and healthy.

Remember that the pints are not interchangeable between models, so if you freeze it in one model’s pints, you need to spin it in that model of Creami.

What is the Ninja Creami & Why Do You Recommend It?
The Ninja Creami is a versatile machine that allows you to create a variety of frozen desserts like ice cream, sorbet, and milkshakes at home.
It’s incredibly user-friendly and gives you control over the ingredients, making it perfect for those who prefer healthy alternatives to store-bought desserts.
It makes the perfect scoopable texture for whole-food plant-based ice cream and is really a game changer for healthy homemade ice creams and sorbets.

What If I Don’t Have Vegan Honey?
No problem at all! You can substitute vegan honey with any other liquid sweetener. Think agave nectar, maple syrup, or even a date paste to give it a natural sweetness. The key is to ensure your dessert hits that sweet spot!
If your melon is sweet/ripe enough, you may be able to skip the sweetener altogether.
How Long Does This Vegan Ice Cream Last in the Freezer?
Your cantaloupe ice cream can last up to a month in the freezer if stored correctly. Make sure to seal it properly to prevent freezer burn and taste alterations.
The longer it stays frozen, the more likely it is that you’ll need to respin and add a little extra non-dairy milk.
Can I Use Other Fruits in Place of Cantaloupe?
Yes! You can experiment with various fruits like strawberries, bananas, or peaches. The recipe is very flexible.
Just remember to adjust your sweeteners according to the natural sweetness of the fruit you use, with frozen fruit being the least sweet.

Why Is My Ice Cream Not Creamy Enough?
If your ice cream isn’t creamy after the first spin, it might be too frozen, meaning your freezer is set too cold. But don’t worry, it’s an easy fix.
Just do a respin. If it’s still not creamy after that, you can add a little water and respin again.
What Kind of Non-Dairy Milk Should I Use?
You can use any non-dairy milk of your choice. Almond, soy, oat, or coconut milk are all good options.
The choice of non-dairy milk can subtly affect the taste and creaminess of your ice cream, so pick one that you prefer.

Why Do I Need to Freeze the Mixture for 24 Hours?
Freezing the mixture for 24 hours ensures it is thoroughly chilled and ready for spinning.
This step is crucial for achieving the perfect ice cream texture – it must be frozen all the way to the center.

What If I Don’t Have a Ninja Creami?
The Ninja Creami can be a game-changer for those who love super ice cream consistency. In fact, I’d say it’s one of the most significant additions to the whole food plant-based community since the Instant Pot.
Although the Creami is the star of the show, you can also make these recipes using ice cube trays, a blender like a Vitamix or BlendTech, or even a YoNana machine. It’s about finding what makes you happy in the kitchen!
Is It Easy to Clean?
Cleaning the Ninja Creami is surprisingly easy. The outer cup, as well as the pints, can go into the dishwasher.
The machine itself features a rod that comes down and self-cleans as it scrapes everything off. It’s very efficient and makes for a smooth cleanup process.

Hi Kathy,
If you put the Ninja mixture into the freezer to freeze it initially – keep the top off. . .then you will have a perfectly flat top without the need to smooth it down. Voila! It’s all a matter of physics. 🙂
Claudia says
I was disappointed in my Cantaloupe creami. My fruit was so sweet but the final product was very bland. I added more sweetener on the respin, but it didn’t really help the taste.
Kathy Hester says
When you freeze it does make it taste less sweet.
