When you work alone all day, every day it’s easy to feel isolated. Meeting other bloggers is one of the biggest reasons to go to a conference. This year I was lucky enough to meet tons of bloggers at Vida Vegan Con, Eat Write Retreat and Food and Wine Conference.
Every conference I’ve gone to this year has seemed like a vacation with a little work thrown in. The Food and Wine Conference is one of the friendliest of them all. It was a treat to hang out with my friends from the year before, and to make new ones.
Cheryl and I turned this into a road trip since her parents live close to Orlando – where the conference was held. My blogging bestie, Jenni Fields, came with us and brought her bear,Charles.
Jenni and Charles spent some of the trip looking at my advance copy of The Easy Vegan Cookbook. Two of Jenni’s recipes are in the book too!
We listened to books, chatted and ate some junk food. All the things needed on a road trip.
Once we got to Rosen Shingle Creek, the real fun began. We socialized before the conference, during the conference, and after.
In between all of that we learned more about blogging, social media, writing, photography and more. It makes the conference even better when you get to hang out with the speakers and learn even more.
It’s not all working and learning – there are cocktails, food and lots of fun people around too.
You know that I went to the Food and Wine Conference as a Brand Ambassador, but you may not know that I was lucky enough to be assigned to the Idaho Potato Commission. I love potatoes and enjoyed representing Idaho Potatoes.
They must have liked me too, since they invited me to join the 2015 Idaho Potato Harvest Tour later in the fall!
I mentioned in a previous post that I entered my Stuffed Potato Chaat in the Idaho Potato Commission Recipe Contest. I won 2nd place! That actually paid for my conference ticket and gave me some cash too. You should make it for your family too!
My friend Jenni, was the brand ambassador for Pacari Chocolate. You know she’s really my friend because she shared a taste of all the chocolate that she got from them with me.
It’s all fabulous, but my two favorites were the rose geranium and the lemongrass. I can’t find a link to buy the rose, so I better eat the one bar I have very, very slowly.
All in all it was a great trip!
