I want to share my new ShelfGenie cabinet inserts with you. It may not be a new recipe, but having an organized kitchen makes it so much easier to cook everyday!
This post is sponsored by ShelfGenie. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own. In fact, I love them so much we’re saving up to get the pantry done!
I literally jumped up and down once I was told that I was selected for ShelfGenie’s promotion. Why? Because my kitchen cabinets are always stuffed to the brim with 10 of everything. That makes organizing hard.
Being a small kitchen appliance hoarder takes a toll on kitchen space!
Yes, my kitchen island always looks like that. I stay set up for live video and Instant Pot classes!
What’s the ShelfGenie Design Process Like?
First you schedule the initial consultation. No matter where you are you located can schedule a free consultation. The information will be directed to the franchise near you.
Dan Powell, owner and designer, called me to set up a meeting that worked for me. In fact, he was able to come on a weekday evening so that Cheryl could be part of the process too.
Dan used a design program and made a mock-up of my kitchen on the fly. The program is really cool and he could show cabinets opening and closing. It made it really easy to see how the changes would work.
Honestly, I was surprised at how much he did in such a short period of time. He was easy to talk to and we chatted over some iced tea to get to know each other before we began.
The next step was to schedule a time for the installer to come over and take measurements. I also received calls from Dan and ShelfGenie to check in and make sure I had all my questions answered.
Below is the 3D design video that Dan sent me. I love the way he can show how each insert works. He made this of all the things we talked about, not just what we decided to do.
Do I Have to Empty My Cabinets for Measurements?
I was worried that I might have to empty my cabinets for measurements and then put everything back until the custom cabinet inserts arrived. But of course I didn’t!
Out installer Tobias did an excellent job working around what was in there. Spoiler alert – all the custom work from the factory fit perfectly!
What’s the ShelfGenie Install Process Like?
Once the measurements are taken they are sent away to be made into custom cabinet inserts. This typically takes a month or so.
When the inserts are ready your installer will call to set up another appointment. This time you do have to remove everything from your cabinets. This is a good time to go through and donate things you aren’t using and to get ideas about how to reorganize.
Tobias spread a blanket on the floor and set up his tools. He did some drilling outside and some inside. That makes my dogs crazy, so I asked Tobias to call when he was about 15 minutes away so I could get them cozy in the bedroom.
There were still a few decisions we could make during the install and Tobias made sure to include me in them. I have to admit most of the time I just asked what he recommended. But it was nice to be asked.
My install took most of the afternoon, so make sure to ask for a time estimate so you can schedule around it.
How Long Did You Have to Clean Up After the Install?
Tobias, our installer, was meticulous in cleaning up after himself. He spread out a quilted blanket over the floor to protect it from his equipment.
He even vacuumed the floor and cabinets. It was a dream install.

Just How Much Are ShelfGenie Cabinet Inserts?
The 3 cabinets I’m showing you plus the added rails to an existing drawer would be $3,500. I’m not sure how much price might vary by area, but my install was done by the ShelfGenie of Raleigh.
The quote to transform my double closet with metal shelves into a real pantry with 2 columns of pull out shelves would be about $4,500.
What Happens If Something Breaks or Just Isn’t as Smooth?
ShelfGenie has a lifetime warranty. That means they will fix or correct any of the parts or installation.
In all honesty, I would recommend ShelfGenie to anyone looking to upgrade your storage solutions. They not only do kitchen cabinets, but closets, bathrooms, and more.
All the ShelfGenie franchises are independently owned. It’s a national company, but a local family business at the same time. I know that mine made me feel like family.

Nice!!!! I need to reorganize my cupboards (and pantry). I have way too much food and cooking supplies but keep buying more because I don’t know where I’ve stashed everything.
Oh, by the way, I order the crisp lid using your link.
