If you are looking to take a week off cooking or to gift that for a friend that’s having a hard time you’ve probably looked into the Splendid Spoon delivery service.

The links on this page include a discount code too!

Splendid Foods reset: 5 frozen soups in recyclable packaging.
They arrive frozen with dry ice in recyclable packaging.

Splendid Spon sent me 5 of their plant-based soups to try out their reset. I think this is great for a week of light lunches or to use in a day to get back on track to your goals.

We all know the holidays can put a dent in our eating plans. And often it can bring your motivation to stay on track to your goals to falter. Or is that just me?

Does Splendid Spoon have gluten-free options?

Yes, they do. In fact, most of their offerings are gluten-free in addition to being vegan.

There is a spot where you can eliminate by preference or allergy.

Vegan Minestrone with a garnish of vegan cheese.

What is a reset?

I love that they do not call this a cleanse because our bodies do that all on their own. But the idea of a reset goes beyond that by helping you create a habit while you nourish your body with veggies.

While Splendid Spoon’s reset soups are relatively low in calories, they have good-for-you vitamins and minerals.

If you overate or your stomach isn’t feeling well this is a good way to get lighter foods in you. In fact, I would recommend keeping a backup set in the freezer in case you get a bug this year.

It’s also a great way to take care of yourself while you are transitioning to, or back to, a healthier way of eating.

What’s included in the soup reset?

The Reset program I received had these soups: Butternut Squash Ratatouille, Cauliflower Potato Chowder, Parsnip Apple, Garden Minestrone, and Lentil & Kale.

Each soup is said to hold 2 servings, which would be about 1 cup, but I had the whole container as a serving.

If you want to do this with your significant other or a friend, you may need to order 1 for each of you.

The soups varied in calories (for the whole container or 2 servings) from 120 – 200, so eating a whole container seems like a no-brainer to me.

The fat content is between 1.5g – 4.5 per serving, so double that if you are eating the whole thing yourself. The salt, per serving, is 280-420g, so again it’s double that if you eat both servings.

How much does it cost?

For the 5 soups in Splendid Spoon’s weekly subscription box, it’s $65. But if you use this link you can get $20 off each of your first 3 boxes.

Instructions printed on box to warn about dry ice and with a link of how to recyle.

Don’t want to commit to a subscription?

No worries! You can get one-time boxes too and they are on sale right now. That’s how I’m getting my “week-off” foods.

How are the meals delivered?

They are shipped with dry ice and recyclable Climacell insulation to make sure your delivery arrives chilled.

How does this soup reset work?

There are a few ways that you can do this reset and you should pick the one that feels most comfy to you.

The easiest way to dip your toe in is to have one of the soups for lunch or dinner 2 – 3 times a week or once a day.

If you are already eating pretty clean, you could go all soups for a whole day. It gives your digestive system a break from harder-to-digest foods while getting those good veggies in.

What I love about Splendid Spoon’s Reset

It comes frozen, portioned out in recyclable containers delivered straight to my door.

With the past few years making me want to get more things delivered it’s a huge plus.

It’s great that the packaging is recyclable, and it’s great that I can get a week off cooking.

Last year we took Christmas week off cooking and ordered from a local meal service.

I have to say that Splendid Spoon was easier and I love that I could keep some in the freezer for a later time.

You do get to pick out the flavors and types of meals you want as well.

Vegan minestrone in a bowl with bits of veggies and beans.

Why Spendid Spoon might be for you

Getting 5 different soups delivered to your door is a luxurious treat.

You want to give your body a little break, but don’t want to fast.

To make it easy to eat healthier because you’ve stocked up your freezer with healthy vegan soups, smoothies, and other vegan pre-made goodies.

You need a break from cooking, but don’t want to sacrifice your healthy eating plan.

You just need a break period. The past few years have been hard. Get your soups and curl up in bed and read your favorite book.

Why it might not be for you

While the nutrition and ingredients are really great, if you are on a whole food plant-based diet and don’t eat salt or oil these aren’t for you.

You want an extra filling meal. These soups are pretty light, but you could try the noodle bowls instead for a more filling reset.

You are feeding a family of picky eaters. I would recommend giving one to yourself and kale a pot of soup or chili for the picky eaters. That way everyone can be happy.

While the fat and salt amounts aren’t high, if your health or diet doesn’t allow one or the other at all, you’ll want to look at their smoothies to see if they could be a fit for you instead.

Have you tried any of Splendid Spoon’s offerings?

I’d love to hear about your favorites or even the ones you’ll skip next time.

Are there only smoothies or soups?

When you order from Splendid Spoon you can get soups, smoothies, juice shots, bowls, and even noodle bowls!

In the single on-demand boxes or in the subscriptions boxes you get to pick your favorites and avoid things you don’t care for.
