You are going to love today’s post. There are recipes for egg-less challah, gluten-free vegan breads, vegan focaccia and so many more. I will continue to add to the list, so check back often to get even more ideas.

Is All Bread Vegan?

I wish all bread was vegan, but many breads contain eggs, milk, honey, or derivatives of one of those. If you’re buying commercial bread it’s easier to tell with the new allergy labels if it contains milk or egg.

Honey is a little harder, but if you are an ingredient reader like me, you’ll suss it out in no time.

How Do You Make Vegan Bread?

The most simple way is to use one of the vegan bread recipes below. But if you have an old family favorite that you want to convert to vegan there are a few things you can try.

Milk is the easiest and you can substitute 1 to 1 with nondairy milk. If the recipe calls for cream or half and half try using canned full fat coconut milk.

Eggs can be a little harder. For the bread itself you can use your favorite egg substitute. I typically use 1 tablespoon of ground flax seed mixed with 2 tablespoons warm water to replace 1 egg.

You could use a chia seed egg or even aquafaba, or bean water, to replace and egg as well.

If there is an egg glaze on your bread, just leave it off or use olive oil instead.
