5 Tips on How To Take Better Care of Yourself

Being sick more than I’ve been healthy in the past 2 months has taken a toll on me. I’m usually a-sick-4-days-then-get-over-it-and-on-with-it kind of person. A 7-day virus leading to bronchitis doesn’t allow for “my way”. This virus has demanded a long, quiet pause from me.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not dying, quitting blogging or anything like that. But since I haven’t been able to make a new recipe to share with you, I thought I would talk about taking care of yourself and show you some of the places I think I can do better.

5 Tips on How To Take Better Care of Yourself

I’m sure I ignored one of the first times I was sick in February because I was busy trying to catch up with my life and business. There’s always more work, chores, ideas, and illnesses in loved-ones.  I think 2015 is trying really hard to teach me to slow down.

It’s also proving to me that some things really can be put off until later. That may not be a bonus for me –  I tend to be a ‘busy procrastinator’. When it was exam time in college my whole house would be sparkling clean, and now it’s tax time that usually gets my starting my spring chores.

None of this tips are meant to be absolutes. Just like my recipes, you don’t have to do them if it’s not a fit for you, or simply adjust them until they are.

Navigate with the next and previous buttons below each section to see all the tips.

I’ve been thinking that I was alone in my debilitating 2015 bronchitis. Your odyssey sounds exactly like mine! Thanks for sharing, now I don’t feel like I’m somehow to blame for this hanging on so lonnnnggg! The coughing just seems to lag forever. Longest siege of bronchitis I’ve ever had. I usually knock it out in a few days with oregano oil therapy. Not this year. I am eager for your ginger tea concentratre. Best to you Kathy and get well soon!

I always look forward to your posts, but you should take a break when you need it. You gave some good advise here, reminding us to slow down and listen to our bodies – thanks.

Kathy, I hope you are back to 100% soon. I’ve never seen anything like the bugs that went around this winter. Everyone in my office was sick for months; a couple of us ended up in hospitals. My tip, from a lesson earned the hard way: Ask for help. Sometimes we cannot do everything.
