It’s been over a week since I’ve gotten home from the Food and Wine Conference in Orlando. It was a great conference with beyond amazing speakers and I’m looking forward to going again next year!

The conference hotel was the Rosen Shingle Creek and you can see the view from my room below. I didn’t even get up to my room before I ran into some friends. It was a great way to start off the weekend and the whole conference was like that. I saw old friends, got to meet people I only knew online and made new friends.

There was a great bar at the Friday night event and the blood orange margarita was just wonderful! Even better I spent most of the night visiting with more friends including some of the wonderful speakers.

There wasn’t a ton of food that I could eat, but Duda Farm Fresh Foods saved the day and left me a late-night snack in my room. Believe it or not chocolate peanut butter is actually good in celery and it’s my new go-to snack.

A few of my favorite sessions:

  • Pinterest presented by Kim Vij and Amanda Boyarshinov
  • Branding Bytes by Coryanne Ettiene and Jackie Gordon
  • Creating the perfect Media Kit with Wendy Wofford Garcia  and Monica Bhide
  • The picture perfect story –  From idea to masterpiece Janet Keeler and Scott Keeler
  • Cooking Up A Cookbook: Marisa McClellan of Food in Jars

Of course there was a cocktail break in the afternoon for Mimosas and Bloody Marys. They made me a vegan one so I could not have been happier! It was sponsored by Duda Farm Fresh Foods who I was brand ambassador for. I couldn’t have been assigned a better brand.

The best thing I got to eat was a black bean farro burger with Not Ketchup and Intensity Academy Gourmet Sauces. Honestly, the sauces made the burger. There was no way I could just pick one of them so I had both.

My friend Jenni Fields of Pastry Chef Online won the brownie contest with her Strawberry Balsamic Swirl Brownies. They aren’t vegan, but she’s given me permission to veganize them and post on the blog!

After the conference we took a trip to The Wizarding Word of Harry Potter but more on that later. Spoiler – it’s awesome!

Thanks Jenni – you’re the best. She even gave me permission to share her brownie-licking photo with you all. If you follow me on Instagram you get to see all kinds of wacky photos with Jenni in them.

Great write up Kathy! One of the highlights of the conference for me was getting to meet you :) So much fun and so much learning. Can’t wait for next year!
