The holidays are approaching at a blazing speed. I don’t know about you but I always seem to stop taking good care of myself during all the festivities from Halloween till New Years. This year my answer for Thanksgiving is in a bourbon bottle. Don’t worry, I’m not planning on drinking my way through the holidays, just using it to flavor a few of my favorite treats.
For breakfast the day of the big cook I suggest having some Whole Wheat Bourbon Banana Bread. It’s chock full of pecans and will get your ready for the day of cooking ahead.
After the big meal I think a Maple Spiced Toddy is in order. You can leave out the bourbon if you don’t imbibe – it’s a nice spiced cup of tea on its own.
It never hurts to have a few fun plates around to cheer you up either. I love my steam-punk octopus dinnerware. The best part? The “suckers” on the handle of the tea cup! You can get these recipes and more in my monthly columns at :
