Joanne shows you that you can use just about any bean you have on hand in this recipe. I’m all about using up what you have and she uses red nightfall beans she got at RanchoGordo.com. My favorite bean to substitute is Yellow Eyed Beans and you can get them at Rancho Gordo too!
The fun part about grit cakes is that you can cut them in any shapes you want. I like to use cookie cutters to cut out Halloween shapes for my annual Gothic dinner party.
