I love to entertain. There’s nothing more fun than getting to try out new food on unsuspecting guests! This is the perfect end to a tasty meal.
People think fondue is difficult to make, but it’s surprisingly easy and you get to customize it to suit your mood. Not to mention it’s much cheaper than getting it at a restaurant!
I used chocolate chips in the recipe because I always have them on hand, but you could grate or chop a high quality dark chocolate as well. Seasonal fruit, dried fruit ,marshmallows and cake are just a few ideas to get you started, but you can dip little balls of cookie and plain cookies too.
I love making a quick fondue for a cocktail party as a surprise. Fondue does surprisingly well in a 1 1/2 to 2 quart slow cooker so you can make it early then keep it on warm. Just check every 30 minutes or so and add more nondairy milk as needed.
The basic chocolate fondue recipe can be enhanced with your favorite liquor, chopped nuts, or even swirl 2 flavors together. Avoiding sugar? Use unsweetened dark chocolate and the sweetener of your choice.
In the top picture I added toasted chopped hazelnuts and Frangelico. It’s like Nutella only better.
Serves: 6 servings
- 1 cup vegan or dairy-free chocolate chips
- ½ cup So Delicious Coconut milk (or ¼ cup liquor and ¼ cup nondairy milk)
- Grand Marnier
- mixed fruit cut into bite sized pieces
- vegan marshmallows
- small chunks of cake
- Melt the chocolate chips in a small pan with milk over low heat stirring constantly so the chocolate doesn’t burn.
- Once melted stir in nuts, marshmallows or any other additions. Serve with an assortment of fruit, cookies, marshmallows or even small chunks of pound cake.
