My Happy New House and a Book Signing at Fly Leaf Books!

You may have noticed I haven’t posted a recipe in a while. I’ve had 2 major things going on at the same time. One of them is the house pictured above.

Before I go on, I need to make a quick announcement: I will be at Fly Leaf Books in Chapel Hill this Saturday (June 2) from 2 to 3 signing books, chatting about slow cooking and answering questions. I’m sure it comes as no surprise – but I will be bringing snacks and possibly some iced Thai tea too!

That gorgeous house is now mine and Cheryl’s! Closing on this house was the most stressful thing I have ever gone through. Yesterday closing was moved twice and still almost didn’t happen. But in the end it worked out and now I get to live in my dream house!

The picture above is my view form the kitchen window over the sink. The property is fairly private and we have a whole acre so no one will be building right next to us. To put it in perspective our old house is on a busy road in the city and is really loud – so this is amazing. I even heard the insects last night!

Now for the very best part – the big kitchen! (The pictures make it look much smaller than it is.)

Oh and that other major piece of news? I’m working on my second book right now and later this year I’ll be working on the third one! I’ve signed the contracts and will be working with Fair Winds Press again. They make the prettiest books.

If all goes as planned both books will come out next year just at different times of the year. I’ll update you as I know more. Now you can see why I need a new big kitchen and a great house to write in ; )

  1. Love the new house, especially that view from your kitchen window. I hope you enjoy it!

  2. All the best in your new home! Eh, did i miss seeing the slow cooker in your kitchen pix?? (hehehe!!) Love the entry red door – gorgeous!! We renovated an old cottage (approx 1000 sq ft) and upcycled a beautiful antique door & our new screen/storm door we painted a gorgeous deep but bright red & accented the top of the porch railings with the same red – just makes it all stand out…
Much happiness & health to you and yours & here’s to the new (now anticipated!) books…Ciao!

Congratulations on your two new book deals, too! I knew you were amazing from my very first contact with you. It makes my heart so happy to sit back and watch all of your achievements and successes.
